Don't just take my word for it...

Care Testimonials

Since going self-employed in 2017, after gaining skills, qualifications, training and confidence from my role within the Children's Home, I have remained dedicated to supporting children with learning and physical disabilities. I have also branched out into assisting disabled adults and their families, as well as older people, including those diagnosed with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.

No two days are the same in my role as a carer and PA, meaning I need to be adaptable whilst promoting my client's independence whenever possible, by keeping a person-centred and client-led approach to my work. Arts and Crafts, and other creative pursuits, have often been a vital part of improving my client's mental well-being, maintaining dexterity and fine motor skills and positively building our relationship.

Caring for Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities

Claire, Max's Mum

I am the single mother of a young man with multiple extra needs. I have a very positive attitude and strive to ensure he has every support and opportunity available. Finding staff who understand isn't always easy. The home environment can be difficult to work in; maintaining professionalism within the family situation is a fine line. Consequently, we pick our staff with care. Finding Holly is a definite success! Her past experience is a bonus but an open and fresh approach brings many new ideas into our lives. We are all interested in creative pursuits and Holly certainly helps with that. Max loves art and enjoys many hours of painting and decoupage, among a variety of other media. Then onto one of Holly's other skills - getting Max out there on Instagram. We really value Holly as an employee but also as a family friend. Highly recommend!

Caring for Older People
with Dementia & Parkinson's

Pam

Holly has now been helping me for three years and during a very difficult time, she has continued to be a reliable help and comfort. She is remarkably versatile and she will use her skills flexibly. For example, tending to the garden and the wildlife. She has proved to be invaluable and a joy to be with. She is both caring, competent and flexible. She willingly copes with anything which may arise from unexpected callers to squirrels in the chimney!"

Workshop Testimonials

Arts & Crafts have always been an integral part of the support I give as a carer, so it felt only natural that  I should offer workshops for any age or ability. One-to-one sessions work well for neurodivergent and disabled people with complex needs, as well as older people with dementia. Similarly, because of my years of care experience, I am confident in adapting group workshops to accommodate people's needs and anxieties. Events and parties are great settings to get creative; the event's focus can be an arts and crafts workshop, or I can host a creative station. Either way,  I can host a range of crafts to suit whatever theme you need.

Mental Wellbeing Craft Café
Sessions at Pepper's - A Safe Place

I regularly facilitate workshops for groups of 10 or more people at a local mental well-being Craft Café at Pepper's - A Safe Place, where people have a diverse range of needs and skill sets. Volunteers are on hand to help out but I do my utmost best to adapt my sessions so that everyone gets something out of them.

You can find a review from the Development Manager below.

Pippa, Development Manager at Pepper's - A Safe Place

Holly has been coming to Pepper’s for a few months, we always look forward to her sessions. Holly comes well prepared with some brilliant crafts. We have found it hard to find craft tutors who can make sessions accessible to a wide range of abilities, non-patronising to adults and able to accommodate the unknowns of a drop-in centre like ours- Holly ticks all of the boxes. On top of this Holly is welcoming and friendly to all of our members, she puts them at ease and gently encourages. We are lucky to call her part of our team.

Ropsley W.I
Glass Painting Workshop

I loved teaching the ladies of this Lincolnshire W.I how to use glass paints to decorate their wine glasses. They sat in small groups and after an introduction and tutorial from me, they cracked on whilst I walked around offering advice and encouragement.

If your organisation, charity, care home, school or workplace would like me to host a workshop, please get in touch.

Thank you Holly! Great instructions for painting glasses - letting us be out own creative genius

Pressed Flower Workshop
at Melton Mowbray Cattle Market

During a busy Saturday market, I was invited to host a workshop and chose to share one of my favourite crafts; creating pressed flower artwork. In this sold-out workshop, I provided hand-picked and pressed flowers from my garden and allotment, for a mixed age of participants to choose from. Some people made bookmarks, others made cards, whilst some used my pressed flower horse artwork, to create their own copy.

Sammi, Martha's Mum

"Martha really enjoyed the pressed flower workshop with Holly. She spent an hour creating a beautiful horse and was really pleased with how it turned out. Holly is friendly, and approachable and was there to help all the children. Martha came away feeling inspired and really happy with her piece of art. I want a go next time!"

Prices start at £25 an hour, depending on the project, location, workshop duration and number of participants.

Discounts are available on regular and block bookings.

Retreat Testimonials

Many people feel nervous when it comes to getting creative so, hosting and holding pressure-free creative spaces brings me great joy.

I love encouraging people to allow themselves to be imperfect,  and to trust and enjoy the process, especially when adopting a spiritual tone to the retreat.

Spiritual Spa Women's Night

I teamed up with Steph of Healed Healthy Whole and Vanessa of Shine Wellbeing to facilitate an evening of relaxation, self-care and creativity, for a group of women from our church.

Steph curated the evening around Psalm 139, whilst Vanessa guided us through relaxation techniques and offered amazing head massages. I ran a creative station that people could use as and when they wanted. My aim was for everyone to tap into their creativity, express what they felt God was saying to them and enjoy the process.

Kerry

The session allowed me to explore my creativity in a peaceful and calm environment. There was plenty of gorgeous materials and natural products to use. Holly's friendly, helpful, encouraging personality helped me to create a truly individual design. Thank you!

Spring Women's Retreat 2023

Following the success of the Spiritual Spa Women's Night, I facilitated two Creative Connection sessions for Healed Healthy Whole's Spring Women's Retreat in Southwell, Nottinghamshire.

Steph curated the day around the themes of rest, delight and worship, which inspired me to encourage the ladies to seek presence with God over perfection during their creative time.

I provided the women with beautiful papers, words, motifs, examples and more so that they could create a collage that reflected their spiritual experience at that time.

If you'd like me to host a workshop for your retreat, event, organisation, school, care home etc, please get in touch.

Patient and encouraging session from Holly. She gave ideas without stifling individual creativity. Thank you for a lovely, friendly, expressive session.
